February 2014 Meeting

Please join us at the Timberglen Library Tuesday, Feb. 4th from 6-8pm for our monthly APSIG meeting.

There were several request for an equipment/hardware show-and-tell theme meeting during our recent discussions. So, lets have that meeting next week. APSIG members are asked to bring one or two pieces of equipment that they find useful and believe that other APSIG members might find useful. We can either take turns describing the equipment and answering questions or do it all in parallel. When you decide the equipment you plan to bring, please post a message on this forum so that other APSIG members will know what they can expect to see.

At the start of the meeting there are a few issues left over from last meeting we might revisit to reach closure on.

Don't forget to bring your raw image data to pass to Dave Raphael for the image data quality analysis presentation.

Don't forget your images for show-n-tell!

I plan to arrive a little early and attempt to calibrate the projector. Anyone interested in helping with this activity is welcome.

March 2012 Meeting

Our March 2012 meeting "focused" on a continuing challenge for all imagers...getting great focus!

We covered both the mechanics and optics of focusing as well as attempted a live focusing demo with an artificial star (despite the fact we couldn't turn the room lights off!)

JOhn Davis gave a great presentation on automated focusing using FocusMax.

Also, we had some great images shared by APSIG members.

February 2012 Meeting

The March 2012 meeting of APSIG ventured into new territory with a live videoconference presentation by Nightscape photographer Robert Arn.

Robert gave a great talk on his amazing nightscape techniques, and we gained some insight into how we might continue to bring in 'virtual' speakers in the future.

We also got the chance to express our thanks to APSIG Chair Emeritus JOhn Davis.  JOhn has spent many hours over the last couple of years establishing this group and creating a fantastic program.  Thanks JOhn!

February 2010 Meeting Pics

Jeff Barton gave an excellent presentation on Solar Imaging at the February APSIG meeting.


About 20 folks attended the talk at the Timberglen Library Branch, where Jeff not only showed some of his solar gear, but also gave a very informative slide presentation on imaging our closest star.


Jeff also demonstrated the use of Registax to process the solar images.
